Town of Truckee General Plan 2040

The Truckee River Legacy Foundation engaged in the Town of Truckee 2040 General Plan process, representing priorities for the Truckee River and the river corridor through town. This work later led to the establishment of the River Revitalization Steering Committee, which is now underway.

A General Plan serves as a blueprint for the community in that it outlines the Town’s policy of acceptable land uses. It establishes goals, purposes, zoning, and activities allowed on each land parcel to provide compatibility and continuity to the entire region, as well as each individual neighborhood. It reflects an environmentally sustainable approach to planning that balances the need for adequate infrastructure, housing, and economic vitality while maintaining and preserving existing communities, agricultural areas, and open spaces.

The 2040 Truckee General Plan was approved by the Truckee Town Council on May 9, 2023.
