Thelin Trail (Sawtooth to Legacy Trail)

The Truckee River Legacy Foundation provided funding towards the construction of the Thelin Trail, led by the Truckee Trails Foundation (TTF).

The Thelin Trail will create a 3,535-foot natural surface trail connecting the Ponderosa Palisades neighborhood to Segment 4A of the Truckee River Legacy Trail. Designed for all non-motorized users, including e-bikes, the trail will offer a safe, convenient route for residents and visitors to walk or ride into downtown Truckee, and provide a more direct link to the Sawtooth Trailhead.

The Town of Truckee has awarded $159,431.75 in Measure U funding to the TTF for construction of the Thelin Trail — the first project funded under the new 2025 Truckee Dirt Trail Grant Program. TTF will also contribute $26,241, including $10,000 from TRLF, in matching funds and maintain the trail for at least five years after construction.
